Cooper Flagg Visits Family-Owned Auburn, Maine, Store to Buy Some Basketball Cards

Dallas Mavericks rookie and No. 1 draft pick Cooper Flagg made a surprise stop at Republic Jewelry and Collectibles in Auburn to buy some basketball trading cards.

The Newport native was back in the Pine Tree State to host alongside his brother, Ace Flagg, a youth basketball camp at the University of Maine.

It seems that on his way to Orono, the former Duke small forward wanted to indulge in some card-collecting fun.

Cooper Flagg Buys Basketball Cards in Auburn, Maine

Cooper Flagg likely has certain spots he enjoys hitting up when he's in Maine.

The Portland Press Herald even mentions in a recent article his fondness for Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and Sawyer's Dairy Bar in Newport, but this time around, his trip included a visit to Republic Jewelry and Collectibles in Auburn.

The family-owned and operated business (split into two stores) shared on its Facebook page photos and video of the star opening up a box of 2024/25 Topps Chrome Basketball set.

He even managed to pull some of his teammates' cards, as well as two autographed cards from Zach Edey and Colby Jones.

Who knew he was a fan of trading cards? It'll be pretty cool to see his own autographed card pop up in one of these box sets in the future.

Seeing no one hound him for anything in the video and simply letting him enjoy some card time feels right in line with what his mother told the Press Herald about how he just gets to be himself in Maine.

"He’s a hometown kid, and he likes getting to come back to his roots, be himself and not have to worry about the outside world," she said.

These moments are a great reminder that no matter how far his talent takes him, he’s still connected to Maine’s local spots and simple pleasures. The Pine Tree State remains that special place he calls home.
