Updated: Early Afternoon Crash In Winterport Monday Leads To Road Closures And Detours
Authorities working the scene of an automobile accident in Winterport are advising motorists in the area to seek alternate routes on their ride home this evening.
First Responders with the Waldo County Dispatch Center say they began receiving calls about a crash in the area where North and Monroe roads intersect, commonly known as Whites Corner.
According to the Winterport Ambulance Service, emergency crews were called to a "two-vehicle motor vehicle collision with reported injuries" just before 2 PM on Monday.
"While en route, a Waldo County deputy who was already on scene notified Waldo Dispatch of three potential patients, all sustaining injuries. Additional resources were requested, including LifeFlight of Maine and mutual aid ambulances from Searsport and Brooks. West Frankfort Fire Department and Village Fire Department were also dispatched to assist with scene management and patient extrication."
Other first responders from Searsport, Brooks, West Frankfort, and the Village Fire Department were also called in to help with the situation.
Authorities say a good portion of the road in that area was shut down for hours while crews worked to assist crash victims and clean up the debris.
Drivers were advised to use either Clark or Haley Road in Winterport as detours around the scene.
