Bangor City Hall Will Look Very Different Inside After Renovations Completed Later This Year
An almost $9-million dollar renovation project that's been going on within the walls of the old Bangor City Hall building, should be near to completion soon, according to City Officials.
In September of 2023, the Bangor City Council approved an $8,910,000 contract to fix up the historic building as they hoped to upgrade many aspect of the ageing infrastructure, while trying to retain and restore some of the original historic design.

Planning for such a massive overhaul, a number of City Departments had to relocate, temporarily, to the back of the Penquis Building on Harlow Street while the work has been done.
And when you take a peek at exactly what's going inside the building, you can see why!
According to the City's Website, new steel beams have been put into place, a new elevator site has been created and new walls and framing have been put together, completely changing the look inside the hold historic building.
Communications Manager for the City of Bangor, David Warren, says the renovations taking place at the City Hall building are right on time.
"It seems most of the heaving lifting has largely been done, such as installing new HVAC system and a new elevator shaft (although not sure if new elevator itself is in place)."
"Some of the focus now appears to be putting up walls and ceilings to define office/department spaces, and to cover up HVAC and other work."
Warren says the end of the construction is in site, and the plans are still on track to move back into the building by the end of the year.
"We hope to return to City Hall come late spring or early summer."
