10 Stores Mainers Loved That Don’t Exist Anymore
Shopping in Maine used to be an adventure!
Remember when the Bangor Mall and the Maine Mall were packed with stores you couldn’t wait to check out? Or places like Borders with stacks of books everywhere, Circuit City with all the gadgets, or Blockbuster where picking a Friday night movie was a ritual? Those spots are gone now, and it feels a little emptier without them, but that is the one constant in life, things change.
Shopping habits shifted, online stores boomed, and trends moved faster than anyone could keep up with. Some of those beloved stores are still around online, but it’s just not the same as roaming the aisles and stumbling on something you didn’t even know you wanted.
For anyone who grew up wandering Maine’s malls, or driving down Stillwater Avenue in Bangor, just remember, those memories are forever!
