Identity Of Victim In Mattawamkeag River Drowning Revealed
The Maine Warden Service has released the identity of a 9-year-old girl who drowned in the Mattawamkeag River.
Carissa Jo Babcock of Lee was killed in the incident on Friday, according to Corporal John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service.
Game wardens say Babcock likely drowned while trying to cross the river with four adults and two other children.
Her body was recovered Saturday morning.
The incident will be reviewed by the Penobscot County District Attorney's Office, MacDonald said.
