Relay For Life Hancock County Holds Their Last Event
Sadly, this will be the final Hancock County Relay for Life event.
This release comes from the Committee
In the past 23 years, Hancock County has continued to support the American Cancer Society, however, after careful consideration, the Event Leadership Committee has made the difficult decision to discontinue the event.
On June 4th, The Hancock County Relay for Life will “Unmask the cure’ in a Mardi gras style Relay for Life event to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Committee lead, and Event lead Brandy Marchetti says
However, we are not going down without a fight this final time. We want to make this event Bigger, badder and badass
The June 4th last event will take place at Ellsworth Elementary Middle School.
The relay is at 11 a.m. and the day will continue until 11 p.m.
Traditionally the event holds an opening ceremony to honor survivors and caregivers and that will continue. Also the luminaria ceremony to honor those battling cancer and also those who have passed on will happen too,.
And other events planned included Touch a Truck. Mr & Mrs Relay with Mrs Maine International, Rebekah Hodgson.
There will a donated baskets raffle, with baskets donated by teams and others, and all full of stuff from the community.
And a Pie in the Face where donors can ‘pie’ a committee, or community member. And all it costs to participate is a $1 raffle ticket.

Mardi Gras Beads will be available, teams are decorating umbrellas to twirl at the event and Darlings ice cream truck will be there with ice cream and proceeds donated back to Realy for Life.
The committee is hopeful to make this event the biggest fund raiser of the past 23 years for Relay for Life Hancock County.
