A ban on hunting in a portion of Somerset county has ban lifted.

Governor Paul LePage has lifted the suspension on hunting in the area where authorities were searching for murder suspect, John Williams. The emergency proclamation was put in place over concern that activities connected with hunting could cause residents to report what they perceive as suspicious activity, but is actually just legal hunters in the woods.

Portions of Norridgewock, Skowhegan and Fairfield were closed to hunting as spring turkey hunting began over the weekend. Saturday was Spring Wild Turkey Youth Hunting Day.
