Fellowship, competition, education, and fun are planned for the City of Ellsworth this September and it should provide the region with an economic boost too.

This will be the fourth time the city of Ellsworth's fire department has hosted the state fire fighters convention and this time much of the activity will be under one roof as Jackson Lab is lending it's recently purchased building (formerly Lowe's) for the event.

Lt. Gary Saunders with the Ellsworth Fire Department says this year's big-name entertainment is comedians Colin Mocharie and Brad Sherwood of the comdey show Whose Line Is It Any Way?

Fire fighters in Maine get first refusal on the show tickets and then a few will be sold to the general public.

There's still plenty of opportunity for you to get involved with the fun though because Saturday's parade will be one of the biggest in the state and Sunday's Firemen's Muster promises lots of spirited competition and laughs.

The winning fire departments will walk away with one of these beautiful trophies pictured, and bragging rights for the rest of the year naturally!
