Often times those who are legitimately using prescription pain medications unwittingly open themselves up to a lot of possible danger.

Drug take-backs are a great way to rid yourself of unused or outdated meds and there's one coming up at the end of the month.

Thieves and abusers are stealing these drugs from homes which can sometimes result in violent encounters and the headlines like this one are increasing.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency is sponsoring another Drug Take-Back on October 26th.

According to studies, a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines-flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash-both pose potential safety and health hazards.

Chances are there is a drop box location near you.
