Maine's local musicians are at it again, helping raise money for a local family in need. The Doucette family was already dealing with their son's pending surgery, and now Dad has been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer.

There's never a good time to get a cancer diagnosis, but for a parent worried about his 17-year-old son's health problems and needed surgery, it was the last straw. Josh Doucette had just turned 40 when he saw his doctor about what he thought was an infected tooth. After a misdiagnosis, his wife encouraged him to go to a specialist and that's where he learned about his cancer. While there's no actual 'cure,' he is undergoing treatments that could prevent the disease from spreading. Understandably, this family is struggling to deal with the emotional weight and the great financial burden.

So a great group of Mainers, including some local musicians, are coming together this weekend to show their support and raise some money to help ease the load. They're calling it 'Kick Cancer's Backside!' and it's being held Sunday, October 4th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Old Town, beginning at noon. It's a potluck, so folks are encouraged to bring along their favorite dish!

A great variety of local bands will provide the music.

  • 12-12:45 Country Boots
  • 1-1:45 Five Wheel Drive
  • 2-2:45 The Ian Black Band
  • 3-3:45 Overdrive
  • 4-4:45 The Maine-ly Country Band
  • 4:50-5:10 Shaun Yazbek
  • 5:15-6 The Tyler Healy Band

In addition to the great tunes, there will be a silent auction, so you could pick up some cool stuff! We hope you can stop by and support this family that's already been through so much. And if you can't make it, you can still donate through the family's Go Fund Me page!
