Carrie Underwood Undergoes Wrist Surgery
In a tweet Underwood says that she's doing great and is grateful for the medical staff, family and friends who've been taking care of her. "All went well," she writes, "even though I’ll be setting off airport metal detectors from now on."
Initial reports after the Friday (Nov. 10) incident indicated that Underwood suffered a broken wrist, cuts and abrasions when she fell on some steps outside her Nashville-area home. Husband Mike Fisher flew home to take care of her, and she only said she would need some time to recover. The fall did force her to cancel an appearance at Sunday's Country Rising event in Nashville.
The statement also made note that her injuries were non-life threatening, which perhaps was an indication that the fall was anything but ordinary. Her tour schedule is clear through 2018 aside from two performances at the Grand Ole Opry in December. A scheduled appearance at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Thursday (Nov. 16) was also scrapped, meaning Underwood will not be inducted as planned in 2017. The Oklahoman reports that she'll be re-eligible in 2018.
