Seriously, where the heck did summer go?

I feel like it was just last week, I was posting about not going into the lakes and rivers yet because the water was still too cold, despite the air temps. But here I am now, writing about Halloween. Granted, it's still over a month away, but barely. Soon, all the little goblins and goblinettes will take to the streets in pursuit of the ultimate candy haul.

To me, Halloween shares that vibe that Christmas has. It's not totally about the day itself, so much as the season. Halloween makes you think of cozy things, even despite it's spooky nature. It means sweaters, cocoa by the fire, and stuffing yourself silly on the Baby Ruth's that no one wanted the day after Halloween.

There is a way to stretch that warm, fuzzy, spooky feeling a little longer.

If you want to add a couple days to the Hallow-day cheer, you could go to the annual Bangor Parks & Rec Touch-A-Truck or Treat event on October 26th, from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. It's going to be in the parking lot of the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Cars will all enter from the Agricultural Entrance on Buck Street. No access from Main Street.

All the little ghouls will be able to check out the various trucks at the event. In the past, there's been construction vehicles, fire trucks, etc. Of course, there will be candy everywhere. But, should you be looking for something to balance out all that sugar, Nora's Cafe food truck will be on site, providing fries, burgers, hot dogs, and the like.

I know when I was a kid, I would've taken just about any chance to go crawling around inside a big old truck to check it out. Plus, it's a nice safe environment and obviously family-friendly. And of course, the event is 100% free.
