Bangor Man Arrested With Crack, Meth, And Heroin

A Bangor man is facing multiple charges after police found crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and suspected heroin in his residence.

Two Bangor Police officers went to a home on Crestmont Road on Thursday to conduct a probation check on Kareen Barker. The 36-year-old was on probation for a 2015 Aggravated Assault conviction in Androscoggin County. The officers had also received a tip that suggested Barker was involved in illegal drug activity.

Barker was cooperative, at first, but led officers to the wrong room when they asked to be taken to his bedroom. The officers were not fooled and soon discovered his actual bedroom where Barker's attitude changed drastically. When one of the officers found illegal drugs, Barker tried to run out the back door.

The officers went to intercept the suspect, who refused to submit. The three ended up struggling on the floor, during which police say Barker tried to destroy some of the illegal drugs. After a few moments, the officers gained control of the suspect and managed to handcuff him.

Once he was under control, the officers completed their search and found approximately 15 grams of crack cocaine, 24 grams of suspected heroin, and 2 grams of methamphetamine. In addition, police seized $1,872 in suspected drug proceeds, with a street value of $6,500.

Due to the amount of drugs and a prior drug conviction in the state of New York, Barker is charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Trafficking in heroin/cocaine, one count of Illegal Possession of methamphetamine, Falsifying Physical Evidence, Violation of Probation, and Refusing to Submit to Arrest. He was taken to the Penobscot County Jail and is currently still incarcerated.
