UPDATE: Students and staff were allowed to return to class at about 11:40 a.m.

Bangor High School was evacuated Wednesday morning after receiving a bomb threat, according to a recorded message from Bangor School Department Superintendent Betsy Webb.

Bangor Police are on the scene and conducting a safety assessment, according to the message, which was received at about 11 a.m.

The message said students and staff would resume their schedule once the assessment is complete.
