Bangor City Council Candidates Forum May 19
There is an open seat on the Bangor City Council.
And with that in mind, the League of Women Voters of Maine in the Bangor area will host a forum for the open seat on Thursday, May 19.
All candidates for this seat whose petitions have been received and verified by the City Clerk for the upcoming June 14 election have been invited to participate.
The public will be welcomed for an in-person audience in council chambers on that Thursday evening in a couple of weeks.
The forums will also be live-streamed on the city’s cable TV station. However, to be eligible to submit a question for a candidate, you must attend the event in person.
If you would like to submit a question you can email one to public.info@bangormaine.gov with the subject line Candidate Question. All questions must be emailed prior to May 16.
In the upcoming City Council Candidates Forum, each candidate will be given 3 minutes for an introductory statement, and then be given 2 minutes to address the topics of ‘What do you think is the most pressing problem the city is facing, what do you think some solutions would be.
That will be followed by questions from the public in attendance.
Lastly, all potential city councilors will be given 2 minutes for a closing statement.
This is the process, and all Bangor residents are invited to participate.
