Maine Good Samaritan Helps a Victim of An Alleged Sexual Assault
A transient is facing charges in Augusta after an alleged assault on Monday.
Police Say the Suspect is a Transient
James W. Oliver, 57, is a transient who's been living in the Lincoln County area.

The Alleged Assault Took Place at the Kennebec River Rail Trail
It was around 7:00 Monday morning, July 1st, when Augusta Police Officers were called to the Kennebec River Rail Trail for a report of a possible assault on an adult female. When the Officers arrived, a Good Samaritan who had witnessed the incident intervened to render aid to the female victim.
Oliver Faces Several Charges
The suspect, who had fled on foot, was identified as James Oliver. He has since been arrested and charged with gross sexual assault, criminal threatening, and unlawful sexual contact and was taken to the Kennebec County Jail where, at the last report, he was being held without bail.
