Augusta Convenience Story Robbery Suspect Arrested
Augusta Police say they have a suspect in custody for a convenience store robbery and are investigating whether he's connected to two other recent robberies.
38-year-old Barry Grant Jr. of Augusta was arrested following a report of a robbery at the Mobil on the Run store on Bangor Street. A caller told police that, just after 5:00 on Tuesday evening, an unidentified suspect walked into the store and threatened the use of a weapon before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money. He was immediately spotted by police and taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
Grant is charged with Robbery and was taken to the Kennebec County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 cash. Detectives continue to investigate the incident and whether it's connected with two other recent robberies, at Walgreens and at the Augusta Quick Mart.
