Soon, Amato's will close their doors for good in Bangor.

Maine-based sandwich chain, Amato's, has announced the closure of one of their locations. According to a Facebook post, Amato's on Broadway in Bangor will permanently close their doors July 3.

The post states: "This is a post we were hoping to avoid, but the time has come to make some difficult decisions. This Saturday, July 3rd, will be the last day Bangor Amato’s will be open. We have enjoyed serving Bangor for years, and we apologize that our services will no longer be available."

Sub lovers have a little less time for one last Italian sandwich, as the location will close early for the day on Thursday, July 1, due to staffing issues. Those with unused gift card can use them through July 3 in Bangor. Amato's gift cards are accepted at most locations.

The Bangor closure comes after Amato's announced earlier this month that they will close several locations in Maine on Sundays. The Sunday closures included the Bangor location, as well as Westbrook, Bath, Holden, and the seasonal food trailer in Rockland.

Amato's closest location outside Bangor is at G&M Family Market in Holden.
