A response to a domestic situation in Blue Hill led to a fatal police-involved shooting.

27-year-old Peter Pfister of Blue Hill is dead following an incident at a Blue Hill residence. Members of the Maine State Police and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to the Curtis Cove Road home at approximately 2:30 Tuesday morning for a report of a domestic disturbance. Police had learned that an injured woman was being held against her will. Officials say Pfister was inside the residence, reportedly with firearms.

The State Police Tactical Team and the State Police Crisis Negotiation Team responded to assist in the situation. As a result of an armed confrontation, Mr. Pfister was shot and killed outside the home by Detective Scott Duff and Corporal Caleb McGary of the Maine State Police, as well as Deputy Sheriff Dylan Hall of Hancock County.

Officials say the woman that was in the residence was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As is standard procedure in all law enforcement-involved incidents involving deadly force, the two Troopers and Deputy Sheriff have been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation by the Maine Attorney General's Office.
