1 Dead, 1 Injured After Car-Tractor Trailer Collision in Union

One man is dead and another injured after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with an 18-wheeler.

The accident happened just before 7:00 Tuesday evening on Route 17 in Union. Police told WABI-TV that it appears a car driven by 75-year-old Ernest Pushard of Gardiner pulled out in front of a tractor trailer, driven by 32-year-old William Cleaves Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft.

Pushard's passenger, 64-year-old Daniel Bailey, died at the scene. Pushard was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, while Cleaves suffered minor injuries.

Police continue to investigate the crash.
