A woman who allegedly attacked her ex-boyfriend with a sword has been ordered by a judge to stay out of Brewer until her court date.

According to the BDN, Christina McCarthy was at a residence on South Main Street in Brewer when police were called to a report of a family fight. Investigators say that she had allegedly threatened her former boyfriend with a sword and had cut him with it, in the process. She continued to assault him, police say, even after he took the sword away.

When police arrived at around 11 p.m. Sunday, McCarthy was said to be uncooperative and combative. Officers finally had to use a Taser to subdue her.

The 25-year-old, who's described as a transient, is charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, aggravated domestic violence assault, criminal trespass, and refusal to submit to arrest. She was ordered to stay out of Brewer until her initial court appearance Monday in Bangor. McCarthy was allowed just one trip to Brewer, accompanied by police, to get some of her belongings. She was released on bail, after a hearing on Monday, and is expected in court again in June.
