The National Weather Service is predicting the Bangor area's first significant snowfall Saturday.

The updated official forecast is calling for 3-to-6 inches of snow in the Bangor area starting Saturday afternoon as a coastal storm makes its way into Maine.

The snow is expected to start in the Bangor area about 2 p.m. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday.

So far this season Bangor is well below our average snowfall for this time of the year.

According to Meteorologist Todd Gutner at WCSH and  WLBZ, Bangor has recorded no snowfall so far, when we normally have seen nearly 5 inches of snow by now.

Looks like that's about to change though. The state could be in for more snow on Tuesday.
