Inmate At Washington County Jail Dies
An inmate at the Washington County Jail in Machias died Friday after he was found unconscious on the floor with a head wound.
James Roy, 55, was found lying on the floor of his assigned dorm area, Washington County Sheriff Barry Curtis said in a Tuesday news release.
Roy was pronounced dead at Down East Community Hospital in Machias.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Roy’s death is not considered suspicious.
The state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The inmate's death remains under investigation.
