It's one of those oddities of God's creation, a super cell in the clouds that form then dissipate. Generally, it's the sign of a super storm that's ready to unload its fury, sometimes in the form of a tornado. But most super cell cloud formations produce hail that can be the size of baseballs; incredibly powerful down bursts; and torrential rainfall.

A group of storm chasers caught the action of super cell as it formed and then went away. Fortunately, nothing really became of it, but the time lapse video shows the beauty of such a monstrosity.
