A Rockland man says he shot and injured an intruder who broke into his home Monday night.

67-year-old Harvey Lembo tells the Bangor Daily News he woke up at about midnight when a man entered his Park Street home.

Police say Lembo shot the suspect in the shoulder and the intruder took off running into the woods outside Lembo’s home.

The suspect was arrested a short time later and identified as 45-year-old Christopher Wildhaber of Rockland.

Lembo says he just bought the gun on Monday because his home had been burglarized four times over the last six years.

He says he’s disabled and confined to a wheel chair, making him an easy target for criminals looking to steal his prescription drugs.
