Country music has come a long way since the early days. There's a whole different sound to country music today. The pop/rock influence has obviously persuaded "up and comers" that they need to sound that way. Some might even say that the twangy, nasally aspect of country that many of us had come to know and love is dead and gone. I'm not saying that it's right or wrong, only that we are witnessing progress in action. It has always been that way. Needless to say, I'm getting old.

Just take an old song like Randy Travis's 'Three Wooden Crosses' and compare it to say, Chase Rice and 'Ready Set, Roll', and the disparity is huge.

Travis--God Bless him--has had a tough time over the past few years, but his music endures. Take a moment and watch and listen to one of Travis's incredible songs as he sings with Josh Turner.
