Maine State Police are investigating a homicide after the death of a man from Acton Wednesday afternoon.

The victim has been identified as Scott Weyland, 42, Maine State Police Lt. Brian McDonough said during a news conference Wednesday.

Police were called to Weyland's home on Milton Mills Road around 1 p.m. When they arrived, Weyland was seriously injured. He was pronounced dead after an ambulance transported him to Southern Maine Health Care in Sanford.

McDonough did not describe Weyland's injuries and refused to tell reporters what kind of weapon may have been used in the killing.

Steven McCausland, spokesman for Maine State Police, said detectives "have a good idea what happened," and they're in the process of interviewing several people who were at the victim's home when he was injured.

An autopsy will be performed by the State Medical Examiner’s Office on Thursday.
