A pedestrian who was the victim of a hit and run last night in Rockland has died of his injuries. Police say the man responsible was intoxicated.

Rockland Police posted on their Facebook page around 6 o'clock Friday night that there was a pedestrian-involved hit and run on Camden Street. The BDN reports, the man was struck near Pizza Hut at 5:15.

When rescue crews arrived, the victim was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport with critical injuries. According to the BDN, the victim, 35-year-old Daniel Cormier of Rockport and Owls Head, was pronounced dead upon arrival at PenBay Medical Center. Two others walking with him were not injured.

The driver, Jeremy Stone, age 40 of Rockport, is being held on charges of felony operating under the influence and felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. Police are investigating to determine whether additional charges will be filed.
