A woman was killed yesterday when her SUV was struck head-on by a tractor trailer. Police continue to investigate to try and figure out why the truck crossed the median into the oncoming lane.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Christine Anderson, age 59 of Smithfield, Rhode Island was killed in the crash. She was driving to her summer camp in Rangely, which she owns with her husband James.

While Anderson was traveling northbound, a tractor trailer driven by Daniel Dunlea, age 58 of Londonderry, New Hampshire crashed through guardrails  at mile 2 in Kittery and hit her SUV head-on. Anderson was killed instantly. Dunlea, who drives for Reas Trucking, is being interviewed as state troopers try to figure out why the rig crossed into the oncoming lanes.
