A Holden man was killed when he fell at Abol Slide in Baxter State Park.

WABI-TV reports 68-year-old John Stetson and a second person were climbing together on Saturday. They were near the top of Abol Trail when the man lost his footing, according to park officials. He fell more than 1,0000 feet, down the icy Abol Slide. Park rangers say Stetson was an experienced climber.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. This is the second death at Baxter State Park in a month. On February 5th, a 56-year-old New Hampshire man died while skiing, after becoming separated from his group.
