The Piscataquis County Sheriff's Office was called out to a snowmobile trail in Sebec last week for an "emergency."

What they found was a full-size tour bus stuck on the trail. The couple, "from away" and their 22 dogs were led astray by their GPS. You see, the road, which was once passable for vehicle traffic, had since been discontinued.

The moral of the story? Here's what the sheriff's office had to say:

When you go to Fenway a GPS is your best friend; when you hit the byways, always check a Gazetteer!

The sheriff's office said it's not the first time a traveler from away has run into trouble on the back roads of northern Maine. A few years ago, they say a motorcyclist from Sweden became stranded for several days when his bike's tires went flat.
