A man has died as the result of a single-vehicle crash in Howland.

Have Police Released the Identity of the Deceased?

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says the deceased has been identified as Cory MacDonald, 44, of Shapleigh.

What Happened?

The crash was reported just before 8:00 Saturday night. Maine State Police Troopers were dispatched to the Lagrange Road in Howland for a report of a single-vehicle crash. An investigation into the circumstances of the crash indicate that the Jeep Wrangler, driven by Shapleigh, was traveling on Lagrange Road when it failed to navigate a corner. The vehicle went off the road and struck several trees before coming to rest on its side. Early indications are that speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash.
