Crews Extinguish Car Fire Along Maine Turnpike

A car along the Maine Turnpike burst into flames Sunday night in Lewiston.

The car caught fire after the driver, Reshid Tahir Shankol, 46, Lewiston, pulled into the breakdown lane at mile 80.

The driver was returning home from work when the car’s warning lights came on, police said.

The Lewiston Fire Department was called to the scene to knock down the flames.
