Two Accidents Result in Fatalities

Two accidents last night on Maine roads have resulted in fatalities.

Police in Old town report a 54 year old woman was killed when she was struck from behind while walking on Poplar Street around 6:30 last night. Police say the driver of the SUV that struck the woman stopped immediately and tried to render assistance while calling police.

They have been tracking and examining Maine's black bear population since 1975 in the longest running biological study in the United States.

Wildlife biologists with the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Department (IF&W) have tracked over 3,000 bears to determine their health and well being, and to learn more about the number of bears entering the population.

Respite in Sarah’s Dream [Video]

Sarah had a passion for music, and great compassion for easing the burden of others.

When she was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 24, she and her husband Ben, would travel from Maine to Boston for Sarah's treatment. Not only was the young couple dealing with Sarah's diagnosis and the impact that would have on their future, they had to deal with frequent trips that were both exhausting and expensive.

Before Sarah passed away in 2011, she had already invested her time and determination to lay the foundation for the creation of a special home-away-from-home. A house that would serve as a warm and inviting space for weary travelers undergoing cancer treatments at the Lafayette Family Cancer Treatment Center in Brewer.

Spaghetti Supper to Benefit Jamie Miller

A benefit spaghetti dinner will be held to help Jaime Miller and her loving family battle stage IV breast cancer. Dinner will be served from 4-6 pm, at which time guests can bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets for a variety of items. The live auction begins shortly after 6 pm.
