Just a thought, but wouldn’t it be great if on their actual anniversary date, which is Monday the 7th of August, Black Fly Coffee Co were to give out free anniversary cookies to celebrate?

Monday completes their first year in the Holden location on 1A at 107 Main Road in Holden, just past the Irving Gas Station.

This was going to be their second location. But they ended up leaving Bar Harbor where they first were located, and Holden is the only location. For now.

The owners, Dave & Katie Higgins are planning on expanding their Black Fly Coffee Co and are looking at Ellsworth as the next location.

They are proud Mainers who have a deep sense of community, especially when it comes to the ‘Buy Local’ mantra.

Their coffee comes from Carrabassett Coffee. The expresso beans are from 44 North of Deer Isle. And other local businesses are utilized in their day-to-day operation as well.

The already had great bagels, and recently added Breakfast sandwiches to the menu using those bagels.

Also get muffins, grab-n-go snacks, and assorted bottled beverages all as local as they can be.

And bags of coffee that they use, you can buy for your home.

Even the Baristas for Black Fly are local with backgrounds from other coffee shops.

This location is a drive-thru only, with no inside seating. You can pre-order on your phone and skip the drive-thru line and pick it up at the location. Open the pictured door, and voila, there is your drink.

Maine D.O.T. made sure the driveway into the business has room for 12 cars so as not to impede traffic on 1A. Just follow the arrows. So far, no back ups on busy 1A. And although traffic is heavier this time of year on that busy stretch of highway, it seems to be a smooth get in and get out location

So congratulations to Black Fly Coffee Co and Happy Anniversary.

And yes, of course they are handing out special cookies to celebrate while supplies last on Monday the 7th.
