A spaghetti and meatballs dinner in Bangor Friday night (with Dysart's desserts) will benefit a Shrine Clown and Dysart's employee, who's been diagnosed with cancer.

At Dysart's, he's known as Dale Hatch, but at the Anah Shrine, he's better known as Slap Shot. Dale has dedicated his life to bringing joy to children with his skates, helmet, and hockey stick, and is a lifelong employee of Dysart's. I've known Dale through his work with the Anah Shrine clowns for many years, and know him as someone who is always ready with a big smile and a kind word.

But, as we all know, life is not always happiness and smiles. Dale is battling cancer and so the folks who are closest to him have planned a dinner to help cover his many expenses. In addition, a GoFundMe page has been set up, for anyone who wants to contribute. The dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 Friday evening at the Anah Shrine building on outer Broadway in Bangor. The Shriners are contributing the spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread and Dysart's will be serving up the desserts.

I'm really sorry that I can't be there, but I'll be out of town for the weekend. I hope it's a great turnout to support a man who's spent his life to making others happy. Best wishes, Dale. We hope to see your bright yellow hair at the circus for years to come.
