Young Fort Kent Woman Dies After Moose-Vehicle Collision
A 23-year-old Fort Kent woman died at the hospital Monday after suffering critical injuries when her vehicle struck a moose last weekend on Interstate 95.
The mother of Maya Linnell told the Fiddlehead Focus Thursday that her daughter died at Maine Medical Center.
She was life-flighted to the Portland hospital after her car collided with a moose early Saturday morning on Interstate 95 near Howland.
“She played many instruments, but loved violin the most. She loved jokes and was a master of puns," her mother said. "She loved origami — my desk is covered with folded pieces of paper she would leave for me.”
A public memorial service will be held at the Senior Center in Fort Kent on Saturday, July 22.
