Bar Dedicated Exclusively to Women’s Sports Coming to Maine

The chain, which started in Portland, Oregon, has announced major expansion plans over the past few years.

It’s always exciting when something new opens here in Maine, and this upcoming spot definitely falls into that category.

As announced on Thursday, March 12th, 2026, the women’s sports bar chain The Sports Bra revealed plans to open its fifth franchise location in Portland, Maine.

The Portland, Oregon–based bar said it’s excited to ‘bridge the gap between the East and the West’ by bringing its concept to another Portland on the opposite coast.

The statement continued by highlighting Maine’s strong tradition of women’s sports, listing several teams and leagues across the state.

The statement also encouraged fans to follow The Sports Bra Maine on Instagram and Facebook and offered an early welcome to Mainers joining the growing Sports Bra community.

The Sports Bra’s new Portland, Maine, location will be led by co-owners Ann Freeman and Emily Lesher of Watch Women’s Sports ME, LLC.

The two first met in 2017 while cheering on their daughters’ soccer team and later started playing together in a local women’s league at the Gorham Sports Complex—now teaming up again to bring The Sports Bra’s mission of supporting and promoting women and girls in sports to Portland.

Like the original Portland, Oregon location, The Sports Bra Maine will be family-friendly and offer a menu of food and drinks with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options.

This will also include sourcing products from local women-owned businesses and adding a Pine Tree State twist to classic pub fare. The team is currently searching for the right location, and while the opening timeline depends on finding and renovating the space, co-owner Ann Freeman says they ‘can’t wait to serve this community and cheer on our favorite teams together.’
