A woman's body was found Monday afternoon, off a logging trail in a wooded area of Waterford.

UPDATE: NewsCenter Maine reports the woman has now been identified as Carol Turner of Waterford. It's believed she walked into the woods, became disoriented, and died of exposure before she could find her way back home.

Oxford County Sheriff's Deputies told the Sun Journal, the body is believed to be that of a 48-year-old Waterford woman, who was reported missing on Monday. Officials say the woman was last seen around 7:30 Sunday evening. The body was found not far from her home on Ben Hale Road and investigators say it appears the woman died of exposure and hypothermia. An autopsy is planned to determine cause of death.
