Connecticut Man Among 2 Arrested in Winthrop Maine Drug Bust

Drug agents seized nearly $45,000 in illegal drugs during the execution of three search warrants in Winthrop.

Maine Drug Agents Arrested 2 People in Winthrop, Maine for Trafficking

Two people were arrested as a result of this investigation:

• Stephen Lee Smith, 34, of Broad Brook, Connecticut, is charged with 2 counts of aggravated drug trafficking.
• Katelynn Dubois, 32, of Winthrop, Maine, is charged with 2 counts of aggravated drug trafficking and 1 count of unlawful trafficking in Schedule W drugs.

Smith's bail was set at $50,000 cash, and Dubois's bail was set at $500 cash with $5,000 unsecured.

Maine Drug Agents Seized Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Cash from a Motel & Storage Unit

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson Shannon Moss says three search warrants were executed on June 18, 2025, at a motel, a storage unit in Winthrop, and another in Gardiner.

Searches of the motel and Winthrop storage unit resulted in the seizure of 116 grams of fentanyl and 301 grams of cocaine, as well as $6,980 in suspected drug proceeds. No drugs or cash were found in the Gardiner storage unit.

Maine Drug Enforcement Officials say the estimated street value of the drugs is approximately $44,500.
