Expecting a mix of snow, rain and freezing rain overnight, the National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northern Maine.

The agency has issued the advisory for Aroostook, northern Penobscot and northern and central Piscataquis counties from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The Weather Service is predicting up to 4 inches of wet snow. Forecasters say snow will develop by late evening. It will mix with rain and freezing rain and then change to all rain from southwest to northeast late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

The Weather Service says it could create slippery road conditions for drivers.

Temperatures overnight are expected to rise through the 20s to mid-30s, and wind gusts could reach 35 mph.

Forecaster have also issued a Wind Advisory for areas along the coast. Towns like Machias and Bar Harbor could see wind speeds reach 55 mph, possibly creating power outages.
