
Maine Police Identify Victim and Shooter in Windham Incident
Maine Police have released the details of a shooting in Windham on Friday and identified the victim and shooter.
Maine State Police Say Both a Windham Shooter and His Victim are Deceased
Maine State Police have identified the victim as Erin Hayne, 33, of Casco. An autopsy revealed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide.
The shooter has been identified as James Ford, 48, of Windham. Ford died of a single, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities have not found any connection between the two men prior to the incident on Friday.
Maine Police Say a Windham Shooter Fired From His Vehicle at a Motorcyclist
Windham Police were called to the intersection fo Roosevelt Trail (Route 302) and Landing Road just before 2 p.m. on Friday for a report of a shooting. Witnesses reported a man on a motorcycle had suffered gunshot wounds.
Witnesses and a Game Warden who happened to be in the area began life-saving measures on Hayne, but were unable to revive him. Mr. Hayne was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Multiple law enforcement agencies aided in the investigation. Witnesses told the police that a silver sedan had pulled up next to the motorcycle, then pointed a firearm from the vehicle and fired several shots at Hayne.
Maine Police Say Witnesses Provided Details About a Windham Shooter's Vehicle
People in a UHaul truck, who saw the incident take place, began to follow the shooter's vehicle while calling 911, providing the license plate to dispatchers. They eventually lost sight of the vehicle near the Raymond/Windham town line.
Members of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office located the suspect's vehicle behind the Dunkin' on Route 302 in Raymond, but the driver, James Ford, was not with the vehicle. A Maine State Police Tactical Team K9 was able to locate the body and determined that Ford had taken his life with a single gunshot.
An investigation into Ford determined that he had left his apartment in Windham shortly before the shooting. He was alone in the vehicle when the shooting occurred.
