With the prediction that a massive, 14-foot great white shark is prowling off the coast of Maine this summer, people have been freaking out about shark attacks.

So, we did some research, and came up with some interesting statistics about shark attacks in Maine.

It's safe to say you don't have anything to worry about. Why? Well...

According to Casino.org, You have a 1 in 63 shot of dying from the flu during your lifetime, but only a 1 in 3,700,000 chance of being killed by a shark.

73 people were killed taking selfies in 2016, but only one was killed by a shark.

And ladies, take it easy! 93% of all shark attacks worldwide happen to men.

You're also more likely to be killed by a vending machine than by a shark in the US.

Maine doesn't even rank in the top states where shark attacks are the "most common." They're still super rare, but shark attacks are most likely to happen in these states:
