Waterville Couple Indicted For Alleged Sexual Abuse Of Children
A husband and wife have been indicted for multiple charges of gross sexual assault against children and are being held on $250,000 bail.
Centralmaine.com reports the allegations against 36-year-old Michael Stevens and 35-year-old Jennifer Stevens are harrowing. One victim, who was less than 12-years-old told authorities that the couple would whip her and two other girls with a belt and limit their food. She said Michael would tell them that they would lose their guardian angels if they didn't cooperate with the sexual abuse. He allegedly told the girls he would allow demons to enter them or would kill himself if they didn't go along with his demands. The girl said the abuse started when she was just 9 years old.
The couple was arrested in February and have been held ever since at the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta, unable to meet their quarter-of-a-million dollar cash bail. WABI-TV reports both husband and wife were indicted this week by a Penobscot County Grand Jury. Jennifer Stevens is charged with 5 counts of gross sexual assault, while Michael Stevens faces 8 counts of gross sexual assault and one count of visual sexual aggression against a child.
