Bangor Water District has shut down water for part of the downtown area after a water main break.

The City of Bangor reports the water main broke in the area of 46 Main Street. Bangor Water District has shut down the water for the area of Main Street between Union and Water Streets, while the main is repaired. Businesses and others who have water service off Main Street in that area will not have water for several hours.

City crews have been working to replace many of the water lines in the Downtown area. Many of the pipes date back to the early 1900's and so are susceptible to things like extreme cold.
