The Maine Warden Service says the body of an Indian Island man who fell into the Kenduskeag Stream has been recovered.

The man has been identified as 41-year-old John Nadeau. At around 5:30 Sunday afternoon Nadeau and Sumer Francis, also of Indian Island, went to the stream to take a picture. While standing on a platform, overlooking the Kenduskeag Stream, Nadeau stepped over the protective railings, lost his balance, and went into the water.

Bangor Police and Fire, along with the Maine Warden Service and DEEMI Search and Rescue immediately began looking for Nadeau, but finally had to suspend the search when it got dark. Divers went back into the water early Monday morning, and he was finally found by a Warden Service diver at around 8:45 a.m., at the bottom of the stream, not far from where he went in.

The State Medical Examiner's office was notified and Nadeau was taken to Brookings and Smith Funeral Home in Bangor.
