You just have to love those Red Snappers.

W.A. Bean & Sons on the Bomarc Road in Bangor has recently been named one of the Top 100 Best Butcher Shops and Meat Markets in America by FoodAndWine.com.  Congratulations to this fabulous and very well respected Bangor area business that has been cranking out the steaks and sausages since 1860.

In the online article, FoodAndWine.com had this to say about the locally owned and operated W.A. Beans & Sons: "Sugar-cured hams and red snapper hot dogs from this fifth-generation family operation have been staples in Maine kitchens since the 1800s, but locals also know the popular brand as a full-service meat market, selling everything from whole smoked chickens to beef mince. Discount meat bundles are a bargain hunter’s best friend."

From the familiar Red Snapper hot dogs to smoked turkey breasts for Thanksgiving, people from all over the area and those that have moved out of state continue to go to W.A. Beans & Sons and to their website for a little taste of Maine.

MaineMEat in the southern Maine town of Kittery was the second Maine business listed within the Top 100 Best Butcher Shop and Meat Markets in America by FoodAndWine.com.  The company features locally sourced meat from Maine and it's goal is to bridge the gap between local farms and your table, according the the business' website.

Kudos to both of these great Maine butcher shops and meat markets, who like all other businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic are working hard and trying to make things work. We have no doubt that they will survive as they are the best at what they do.
