Alleged Gunman, Victims Identified After Madison Shooting Spree
Police have released the names of the three people who were gunned down by a man Wednesday morning in Madison.
Lori Hayden, 52, of Madison and her son, Dustin Tuttle, 25, along with Michael Spaulding, 57, were killed in the shootings, Steven McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said during a press conference Wednesday afternoon.
A fourth person was wounded in the shootings, Harvey Austin, 57, of Skowhegan, McCausland said. He is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
The alleged shooter was identified as Carroll Tuttle Jr., 51, the husband of Lori Hayden and the father of Dustin Tuttle.
The shootings were first reported to the Somerset County Sheriff's Office at 7:37 a.m.
Lori Hayden and Dustin Tuttle were shot inside their home at 316 Russell Road. Austin was shot outside their residence. Spaulding was shot at his home just down the street, 299 Russell Road.
McCausland said police are not sure what connection the alleged shooter had to Spaulding and Austin.
The Attorney General's Office is investigating the incident, standard procedure following a police-involved shooting. Three officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
None of the officers were injured.
