Vehicle, Woods Fire Causes Delays On I-95 In Carmel
A vehicle fire that spread to the woods along I-95 in Carmel caused headaches for drivers Thursday afternoon.
The fire was about 1,000 yards in length and stretched approximately 500 yards into the woods, the Maine DOT said in a news release just after 2 p.m.
The release said I-95 southbound in Carmel was down to one lane between miles 167 and 168.
At about 2:30 p.m., the DOT said the fire was about 75 percent contained, but drivers were still experiencing delays and being advised to find an alternate route.
Traffic on I-95 south in Pittsfield was also affected by an accident on Thursday.
The DOT just before 10 a.m. reported that a multi-vehicle crash at mile 146 shut down the southbound lanes of I-95.
The road reopened shortly after 11 a.m.
