UPDATE: Students Alerted Maine School Officials To Firearm on Property
A 10-year-old student faces several charges after the student allegedly brought a gun to school on the bus on March 10.
On Tuesday, police released more information about the incident at Monroe Elementary School. Included was the fact that students alerted school officials to the presence of a gun at the school after becoming aware of it on the bus.
Police seized the .22 caliber handgun, which was found unloaded in a bag. The bag also contained bullets.
The 10-year-old student faces the following charges:
- Aggravated Reckless Conduct
- Criminal Terrorizing
- Criminal Threatening
- Threatening Display of or Carrying a Concealed Weapon
The student was released to the custody of a parent. The student is expected to be arraigned on May 18.
